Meet Sonia.
She is from Nepal. She was born in Central Jail in Dhaka, Bangladesh. Her mother was arrested for smuggling and drugs. After birth, she was with her mother living in jail till the age of 5. Later, she was sent to the orphanage. The mother was bailed out but unfortunately, she never went to the orphanage to pick her daughter Sonia. She knows her story and feels heartbroken. She might not have a blood connected family whom she can rely on but she has these other beautiful girls in the orphanage whom she takes as her sisters/best friends. She even calls one of her teacher "Ma" (meaning- 'Mom'). At present, this girl is without parents, living and smiling away in the orphanage.

Meet Yunus and Aslam.
They are brothers living in the Blind Center for more than 2 years. Yunus is 8 years old and Aslam is 10 years old. They have another younger brother who lives with their parents in their village. Yunus, slowly lost his eyesight and Aslam was visually impaired since birth. Both the brothers are in grade 3 and are getting an education, as they both enjoy learning. Yunus likes eating Noodles and Aslam likes desi food. Both likes cricket. The manager of the Center found them in their village, he then discussed about the Center with their parents. Later, the parents did their research and agreed to send their sons to the Center for a better future. Back, when they were in the village, they were unable to get any kind of help. The parents visit them, once every month and gets a good amount of time to spend with their children. They are very calm kids, and knows how to walk around the Center, as they have the tactile ground surface, a special textured surface to assist the brothers who can then feel the texture and be safe while walking.

Meet Imran.
He is 13 years old. He is suffering from Blood Cancer and living in the cancer clinic for almost 2 years now. He is being treated and is given medication thrice a day. He doesn't like taking medicines, as it makes him dizzy and weak. He lost a lot of weight and gets very tired if he plays for long hours. He used to study in grade 6 and later had to quit, due to his illness. He doesn't like eating meat, but enjoys desi Bengali food. He loves going to the park to have some fresh air. He used to like socializing but at present he doesn't like to talk to anyone. He has a sister and has his mother living with him in the clinic who takes care of him.

Meet Dithi.
She is 45 years old. She is unmarried, and always wanted to get married. She has been living in the Old Home for more than a year. She used to work in the garment industry for 11 years. She made her own identity. Later problems started taking place in the family, and she started to suffer mentally. Her brother and sister dropped her off at the Old Home and never contacted her. She is not in touch with any of her family members or friends. A part of her wants to wait for a member from her family to go and take her away from the Old Home and a part of her is waiting for death, because she fears nobody will go and help her get out.

Meet Dipti.
She comes from a Hindu family, but because she has been living in the orphanage from childhood, she tends to follow the religion of Islam. She has a mother working outside, but unfortunately doesn't contact her. Her mother gave her away in the orphanage because she could not take care of her or provide for her. Her father passed away when she was very small. She has a very bright and bubbly personality. She is very well spoken and well mannered. She knows her story and feels heartbroken. She might not have a blood connected family whom she can rely on but she has these other beautiful girls in the orphanage whom she takes as her sisters/best friends. She even calls one of her teacher "Ma" (meaning- 'Mom'). At present, this girl is without parents, living and smiling away in the orphanage.

Meet Farida.
She is 54 years old living in the Old Home for more 3 years. Her husband left her there and took her children away from her. She screams and cries for her children all the time, sometimes she needs help in order to calm down. She loses appetite and can't eat. Due to the heavy crying, her eyes have swollen, she became forgetful and has become a compulsive talker. Her husband doesn't allow the children to visit her or talk to her. She had the company of her mother in the old home, but her mother passed away. She has a sister who calls and inquires about her, but sadly doesn't visit or talk to her. During the day time, she sits in the porch with the other aged people and enjoys some fresh air. She is under medical treatment and breathing away, waiting for her children to come and get her.

Meet Nafisa.
She is a special child. She is 12 years old and studying in a special school. She's not too fond of studying as she finds it difficult and challenging. Her favorite subject is Maths. She loves the Qur'an. She has a creative mind, who loves to draw and color. She also loves old music and loves dancing. She loves being involved and going out. She lives with her parents and has one older sister. At home, she gets annoyed when her parents read the newspaper in the morning, because their focus is on reading and not on her. She gets annoyed when someone doesn't let her watch tv or changes the channel. She recently learnt how to write her name in English. She still can't write Bengali. Her health issues are not like any other child. Due to the 5 holes in her heart, she underwent an open heart surgery at the age of 1. She couldn't walk for a very long time, and had therapy and now at present she's able to walk. For all these reasons, her mother who was a working lady and had to contribute in the family, had to quit her job so she could take care of her child who needed special attention.

Meet Jasmine.
Her mother is alive but unfortunately her father passed away. Her mother had to give her away in the orphanage, due to low income. The mother couldn't take care of her or provide for her school. She's a little girl who has a lot of dreams. She's a very quiet girl who tends to think a lot. She knows her story and feels heartbroken because her mother hardly visits her in the orphanage. She might not have a blood connected family whom she can rely on but she has these other beautiful girls in the orphanage whom she takes as her sisters/best friends. She even calls one of her teacher "Ma" (meaning- 'Mom').

Meet Irwaz.
He is a special child. He is 4 years old. He is a very calm boy, but doesn't like being forced to do anything. Due to his sickness, he is growing in a very slow pace. He still needs help when he is stands and still can't walk properly. He loves to eat but due to his dental problems, he faces difficulty while eating. He has a heavy stomach, which doesn't allow him to be active. Since his birth he had heart problems. His mother has taken him to a lot of hospitals and is now comfortable with homeopathy as his treatment. His mother has to take care of him all the time.

Meet Shahida.
She has been staying at the NGO for 6 months with her 2 month old baby named Shoreeb. She was raped while working at a house in Dubai, which resulted in her getting pregnant. She came back to Dhaka, Bangladesh following the incident. Her employer had wanted her to get an abortion but she wished to keep the baby. Her parents didn't accept her and she had nowhere to go. A certain uncle helped her make way. She never got married, had a C section to deliver the baby due to some complications. She is not interested to give the baby up for adoption and wants to bring him up by herself. Her future is her son, she wants him to grow up following the teachings of Islam and study at a Madrasah. She is currently hoping to get some work to aide her in her quest.

Meet Brishti.

Meet Kaiyum,
He is a special child. He is 25 years old. He is studying in a special scholar school. His parents always wanted him to study and gain knowledge, so he started getting education from a very young age. He likes staying alone. He doesn't like socializing with people. He gets very annoyed when someone touches his iPad. He has a good appetite and loves different types of desi food and soft drinks. He has been restricted from having soft drinks. He can get aggressive when food is not given to him on time. He wants to eat out every Friday. He had a wish to settle in USA, which was fulfilled by his parents but then he didn't like living there. He missed home, so now he is happily settled in Dhaka, Bangladesh.

Meet Ashadhon and Ashamoni.
They are sisters. Their mother is alive but unfortunately their father passed away. Their mother had to give both of them away in the orphanage, due to low income. The mother couldn't not take care of them or provide for their school. Both of them feel heartbroken because the mother never visits them in the orphanage. They don't even remember their mother. They don't have a blood connected family whom they can rely on but they do have other beautiful girls in the orphanage whom they take as sisters/best friends. Meet Lucky.
She has been living in the NGO for more than 3 months. She is expecting and is on her 5th month. Her husband was into drugs, and the marriage didn't work out for them. She suffered both physically and mentally in the marriage. She left her husband and ended up living in the NGO, and got the support she needed. She wants to work in the future and is still confused whether she should keep her baby or give the baby for adoption. She had worked at home and in garments before. Her parents are alive but unfortunately doesn't take care of her. The parents do visit her in the NGO.

Meet Khairul.
He is a special child. He is 18 years old. He can hear but unfortunately can't talk. It takes a while for him to understand. He studies in Khilgaon school. He loves dancing and listening to music. He loves going out and having Desi food. At home, he likes playing games on phones and loves watching cartoon. He has 10 siblings- 5 brothers and 5 sisters. He always needs help, so one of his sister is always with him. The sister does all the work for him. He is very comfortable with her and at times plays hide and seek with her. He loves to be involved and hates it when he's not given attention. He is a very calm boy, but doesn't like it when he is forced to do something. He loves receiving gifts and he sure had a huge smile on his face when he received your donations.

Meet Maria.

Meet Tabassum.
She is a special child. She is 15 years old. She loves music and food. She is a very independent child. She is very disciplined and likes to stay in a neat and clean environment. She helps the family at home by working and doing house chores. She loves playing with kids. She has a very friendly nature, she's calm and caring. She has done a television advert for Dutch Bangla in channel ATN. The advert was to spread awareness of Down Syndrome. She is slow in her studies, and she recently learnt how to write her name. She learnt how to speak and walk late. She has a very sharp memory. She lives with her parents and has an older sister.

Meet Shirin.
She is 65 years old. She has been living in the Old Home for more than 2 years. She was a housewife before living in the old home. She is under treatment. She gets very sick and suffers a lot. She has sialorrhea, which means she has uncontrollable flow of saliva outside the mouth. Her daughter works for a living and couldn't take care of her. Her husband is alive and living with his daughter and left her in the old home due to her sickness. At present, she can't walk and needs the support of a wheelchair. During night times, she tends to scream out of pain. Her legs are very weak and she can't seem to bear the pain.

Meet Angel.
She is a special child. She is 7 years old. She loves living alone. She loves working and learning new things. During her free time, she likes watching musical shows. She eats soft food. She doesn't like new environments, because it makes her very uncomfortable. She doesn't like sunny weather or loud noise. She is very sentimental. She doesn't like it when someone touches her things or is being forced to do something. Has a very sharp memory. At present, she is studying in a school but is unable to read and write, due to her slow progress. She can talk and communicate. At home, she always wants the attention and wants to be the priority of every family member. She doesn't like being neglected. She is the youngest and the only daughter of her parents and has three brothers.

Meet Paronita.
She is a special child. She is 22 years old. She loves music and dancing. She is a very shy person. She plays the Harmonium. She loves to go out and have junk food like chocolate and crisps. She enjoys fresh juices. She is studying in a school. She has learnt how to write her name. She is happily married for more than a year and lives in Azimpur. She gets very annoyed if she doesn't like something. She has a lot friends whom she spends her time with in school.

He is 12 years old. He is suffering from Blood Cancer and living in the cancer clinic for more than a month. He dislikes hearing "cancer", he gets very angry and uncomfortable when the word is used. He was a very playful boy before, but now he doesn't play as much and feels very weak. He used to love playing cricket. He likes to have different types of fruits. He loves watching cartoon and helping the poor. At present he doesn't like socializing. He doesn't like being in a loud environment. He has medicines, 4 times a day. He lost a lot of weight in the middle of his treatment but managed to gain some weight after a while. He has one sister and his mother is staying with him in the clinic to take care of him.

Meet Zohura.
She is 75 years old living in the Old Home for more than 5 years. She loves sweet, even though she is not allowed much. Takes small portions of food during the day. She used to live in Kolkata, India. Later she moved to Dhaka, Bangladesh. She was a housewife and never worked. She never had a child of her own, but was blessed with a step son whom she loves dearly. Later in her old age, her husband passed away and her step son dropped her off in the Old Home. At present, she is under medication. Falls sick very often. She does not have any family members or relatives visiting her. At times the son calls and asks about her, but unfortunately never visits her.

Meet Mukta.
She is staying in the NGO for over a month. She had her first born in the NGO. She gave birth to a beautiful baby girl named, Moni. Her husband is alive and remarried. Her parents have passed away. She does not have any siblings. She came to Dhaka, Bangladesh when she was expecting and ended up in the NGO to get some support. After giving birth, she wants to work and earn a living. She feels, keeping her baby and working will be very difficult in this day and age because she doesn't have anyone who could keep or take care of her baby. With a heavy heart, she has decided to give her baby up for adoption and wants a good-hearted couple to adopt her baby.

She is a special child. She is 25 years old. She likes playing sports, watching TV, dancing, sewing clothes, drawing and sketching. She won a prize for Art. She has a very creative mind. She's very active in supporting her mother out at home, she helps her mother with making tea and bread. She loves having ice-cream and chocolate. She loves to go out and socialize. She likes it when guests come over and when she can serve them. She's her parents first born. She has two more siblings. She has a very good memory and tends to remember a lot of her childhood. She dislikes it when someone touches her things. She likes to be updated with world news and it helps her to read and write. She went to China to play tennis.
